The 1st NC Tacial Division currently consists of two unit types.
I. Infantry Squad(s)
II. Recon Squad(s)
Infantry Squad
The Infantry Squad member is the all purpose rifleman who can hold
or take objectives or perform various mission specific duties.
Recon Squad
Scouts are a well camouflaged, lightly armed infantry group consisting
of multiple trained individuals to provide intel on a specific target
or area of operations.
They will not engage large targets (unless engaged or their life
or mission is in danger), but relay the information back to the squads
for appropriate action. In case of the loss of radio contact, one of
the scouts should, if possible, return to the main Squad (or the closest
infantry squad it there are several) with his intel. The Recon Squad
Leader will make the decision to engage the target, hold position until
the squad moves up, or avoid contact. The scouts will be required to
utilize camouflage to a greater extent than the average rifleman to
avoid detection.
The scouts will work with and support the squads to accomplish
the mission at hand, or work to achieve an objective highlighted by
the Recon Squad Leader independent of the main mission.
The ratio for Infantry to Recon squad members should be 75% (Infantry)
to 25% (Recon) unless the mission dictates otherwise.
A note from the Recon Squad Leader
My thoughts ,
Scouts and Sniper teams and the like support the all important gunfighters
through timely intel and precise fires on high value targets. That being
said the scale of and the time constraints of the games makes traditional
scouting techniques difficult to pull off , "CTR "or close target recon
hard to pull off because we aren't out there long enough for the bad
guys to get that lazy , mostly anyway lol. Hard to do zone or even a
good wagon wheel on most fields due to field size. We modify our tactics
, follow the commanders' intent , focus on the mission and support it
by showing up where the bad guys least expect , deny them avenues of
approach to objectives and take targets that get sloppy behind the lines
, counter enemy recon and plug holes in the defense. Get back to basics
, this team was dangerous because everyone was a gunfighter and focused
on the mission." Get me that tank " " Go get me an antitank gun " "Hold
this spot" "go get me that pilot" flashbacks anyone ? and little groups
of gunfighters would disperse with their squad leaders and handle it
, no muss no fuss. Build your gun fighting skills : Speedball to get
used to getting shot at and moving under fire , Lane training to learn
how to take out small mutually supporting positions, Pistol work close
range high speed movement multiple targets. Field craft the art of not
sounding like a herd of elephants in the trees , when you are moving
be looking for that next piece of cover "saying to yourself if I get
shot at right now I'm ducking there" build up everyone's skill level
to the point that we are one big dangerous box of Lego's , get to the
point where the other teams only exist to provide us with pop up targets
